Networking for Systemic Change
Bangladesh is one of the most climate-vulnerable countries in the world, ranked as the seventh most affected by climate change according to the Global Climate Risk Index. Its geographical location, low-lying topography, and dense population exacerbate its susceptibility to climate hazards. These hazards are made worse for women and other marginalized and vulnerable groups in Bangladesh.
With this two-year, $200,000 USD grant, Samprity Aid Foundation will create and strengthen a nationwide network of civil society organizations across all 64 districts of Bangladesh. This network, of which at least 50% of organizations will be led by women, is crucial for fostering a cohesive climate justice movement that prioritizes gender-responsive policies and resilience, ensuring their specific vulnerabilities and needs are addressed through climate action across Bangladesh. The network will serve as a robust platform for collective action, knowledge sharing, and coordinated advocacy, driving systemic change in climate justice and resilience policies.
