Our Grants

CJRF has transitioned from a funder-led governance model to a practitioner and activist-led board. Our board consists of people with intimate knowledge of the realities of the climate crisis. You can read more about the board members and their experiences on our blog.

In late 2023, our board approved an 18-month strategy to deploy up to $4M in funding by test-driving different participatory grantmaking methods.

This includes an open call where an applicant collective will select the awardees; network-driven grantmaking where current and past grant partners refer organizations for funding; a re-granters collective; and more. We will share more about these participatory initiatives as details emerge.
