Monica Waqanisau - Board Liaison

Monica Waqanisau is a seasoned Gender Programmer and Development Policy Practitioner with over 13 years of experience driving social change across the Pacific. With a strong foundation in gender equality, social inclusion, and human rights advocacy, Monica has worked extensively in program development, policy analysis, and stakeholder engagement.  

As a Freelance Consultant, she has collaborated with key regional and international organizations, contributing to research, policy frameworks, and capacity-building initiatives. Her experience spans roles across Pacific CROP, donor and civil society organisations where she has managed gender transformative programs, facilitated strategic planning, and provided technical training, and research on gender-inclusive programming approaches.  

Monica holds a Master’s in Diplomacy & International Affairs and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of the South Pacific. She is also a graduate of multiple specialized training programs in feminist legal theory, governance, and human rights. A skilled convener and rights-based campaigner, Monica continues to advocate for gender equity, inclusive decolonial development and climate justice across the Majority World. "
