Supporting Informed Migration and Remittances to Build Resilience

In the face of climate-induced loss and damage, migration has been a common strategy to diversify livelihoods. Building from previous grants that funded the Panii Jibon project in Bangladesh, this one-year grant of $250,000 will help families make more informed decisions about migration, including by offering skill development opportunities for more economically successful migration. The project also provides support for the smart use of remittances to support the climate resilience of family members who have not migrated. The project will establish a gender-segregated database of seasonal or temporary migrant workers, to provide an evidence base for further support for climate-forced displacement. In addition to support around migration, the project enables re-building livelihoods and infrastructure damaged by climate-induced disasters.

The project partners with Development Organization of the Rural Poor (DORP), Shushilan, and the International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD), as well as a community-based organizations such as budget monitoring clubs, youth forums, and the Mother’s Parliament.
