Climate Journalism to Highlight Homegrown Solutions
Effective climate journalism can highlight trends and share nuanced, frontline stories of the climate crisis. In addition to holding those in power to account, journalism can also highlight effective approaches from which others can learn.
CJRF became a Climate Home News sponsor in 2018, and has since supported them with a series of grants totaling $160,523. Under our sponsorship, Climate Home News has published stories highlighting our partners' stories and issue areas. These articles feature partners in all three of our regions and global portfolio and cover the innovative work they are doing on the ground. CJRF has also supported Climate Home New’s launch of a new reporting program focused on generating frontline and climate justice stories. The program gives preference to pitches from local reporters in developing countries. From highlighting the impact of marginalization on the Munda people in Bangladesh to exposing a water access gap in Mexico City, these reporters are well-positioned to elevate challenges local communities face due to the climate crisis.
