Bay of Bengal Grants
In Orissa, West Bengal, and Bangladesh, rising seas, melting glaciers, low-lying areas, dense populations, frequent typhoons, and poverty combine to make many communities highly vulnerable.
While not exhaustive, the following activities are a result of CJRF funding in the Bay of Bengal:
Women and youth in disaster-prone regions of Bangladesh are effectively advocating for water rights and more transparency and accountability of government.
Bangladeshi activists are ensuring fresh water in publicly owned canals stays available to everyone as sea levels rise.
Local journalists in the Bay of Bengal are reporting on climate justice stories to influence local, national, and global climate action.

Renewed and expanded grants demonstrate our efforts to build deeper relationships with partners and invest in promising efforts to build voice and power for those hit hardest by climate impacts.
