Mara-Serengeti Participatory Systems Map Partnership
As part of CJRF’s efforts to pilot and learn from various participatory grantmaking models, we adopted the participatory systems mapping methodology to co-create grantmaking priorities and plan for redistributing funds in the Mara-Serengeti ecosystem. As a result, we made a partnership grant of $450,000 USD focused on Indigenous Peoples building and enhancing transboundary connections for solidarity and climate justice movement building across Kenya and Tanzania. The grant is fiscally hosted by CJRF’s long-term partner IMPACT Kenya, and it is steered by the Mara-Serengeti Ecosystem Changemakers, made up of representatives from 12 Indigenous-led organizations in Kenya and Tanzania who are collectively planning, developing, making decisions, and implementing all aspects of the work.
