Damn So Hot Alliance
Bringing together human rights tools and approaches to climate change, the Damn So Hot Alliance is a coalition between the Taiwan Association for Human Rights (TAHR), Amnesty Taiwan, Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF), 350 Taiwan, and Greenpeace East Asia. The Alliance is using film and media to show the human face of the climate emergency, raising awareness of climate refugees among Taiwanese citizens and decision-makers. The coalition also campaigns in Taiwan for divestment from fossil fuels, focusing on the accountability of investors to make these changes.
Why Environmental Justice Foundation?
Following the Peoples’ Summit on Climate Rights and Human Survival held in October 2019, the Climate Justice Resilience Fund, Oak Foundation, Open Society Foundations, True Costs Initiative, Wallace Global Fund, and one anonymous donor formed the Climate Rights Funder Collaborative hosted at CJRF. The Collaborative brought together the human rights and environment funder communities to co-create strategies, incubate and test ideas, align funding, and pool resources. With the aim of strengthening national and trans-national climate movements with a human rights approach, this sub-fund provided modest seed grants to innovative organizations working at the intersection of climate change and human rights.
