A Holistic Approach to a Secure Future for People in the Sundarbans

Communities that rely on natural resources for their livelihoods cannot gamble on simplistic planning. Our four-year, $700,000 grant supports the Development Research Communication and Services Centre (DRCSC) in its work with rural households to protect their livelihoods from the impacts of climate change. Community-based resource management and restoration activities like rainwater harvesting, growing sophisticated household gardens, community skills training, planting mangroves, and the formation of a Disaster Management Committee offer the many-pronged approach required for effective preparedness.

Why Development Research Communication and Services Centre (DRCSC)?

Building community resilience requires a holistic vision. A long-time regional leader on livelihood issues in West Bengal, DRCSC now has the opportunity to expand and deepen its signature integrated approach to climate change.
