Using the Law to Build Climate Resilience
Laws only make an impact when they are applied in the real world. Our grants, totaling $560,000 over five years, support Natural Justice’s aims to give communities a voice in major development and infrastructure projects where climate resilience is at stake. By applying provisions in new Kenyan climate laws, the effort focuses on increasing the capacity of communities to challenge and hold projects accountable. Natural Justice will collaborate with Friends of Lake Turkana, the Malindi Rights Forum, and Haki na Sheria Initiative.
Following the success of the 2018 grant, the second phase of this work scales impact and activities in Kitui and Kwale counties in Kenya, as well as new work in Tanzania. Natural Justice continues to empower communities and amplify their voices for climate justice, and does so by arming communities with the law.
